STOP thinking of yourself as ‘just a business owner’. Great opportunity awaits for those who see themselves as a entrepreneurs and not just business owners. Here’s how you can further leverage your talent for commercial gain:
1. Teach
It’s true what they say, knowledge is power. Learning is almost addictive, there are a hungry bunch of learners, always seeking how to hone their craft. Your skills, perspective and craft expertise is highly valuable. Do something deeply impactful with it, teach. You are uniquely positioned to impart their wealth of deep knowledge and experience you have built up over time, mentor generations of today (and tomorrow) who can learn whilst in good company. And you know what, you might just learn something from them.
2. Connect
“One genuine relationship is worth a fistful of business cards.” When you ARE the
business, you naturally build up relationships with clients over time. Just because the client may no longer require your services does not mean your relationship no longer holds value. These meaningful connections you have made are gold. Reach out and use them to connect you with their connections along with a recommendation for your services be it actual craft work or coaching opportunities or even the ability for you to connect them with expertise outside of your field. Connections equal opportunity whichever way it works out.
3. Collaborate
Being an expert means you have other businesses who may compliment what you do. Collaborate. Work together to win bigger work. Upsell one anothers service by offering your client the whole package even though you may outsource some of the work to someone else. You can also collaborate within your domain, find others you trust that you can outsource for overspill. This is how you go beyond what one business is capable of doing and can make a profit from not doing ALL the work. Work smarter not harder - collaborate.
Trust us, this works, we have build our business on this very need to enable creative entrepreneurs to be more than ‘just a business owner’. If you want to fasttrack your potential for growth, get in touch and teach-connect-collaborate with us!
