Design Your Flywheel, Not Just Your Features.

By Alan W

Most founders I work with want traction. But what they really need is momentum.

And that’s where the flywheel effect comes in.

I’m not talking about Amazon-style marketplace flywheels. I mean the kind of flywheel you can design into any online platform — even if you don’t sell products.

Take a coaching platform I advised recently. They didn’t have big budgets or tech. But what they did have was a small but passionate group of coaches helping clients get results.

So we built the flywheel around that:

  1. Client results →

  2. Turned into story content →

  3. Attracted new coach applicants →

  4. Created more niche offerings →

  5. Drove better matching + results →

↺ back to step 1 — and the loop grows stronger each time.

They weren’t pushing growth. The platform started pulling it.

And here’s the part I wish more founders knew:

→ Any business model can have a flywheel. You don’t need funding or a viral product.Just a clear loop where each action strengthens the next.
