Curiosity

~ by Irmi L

One very crucial thing I've learnt from years of interviewing people using applications or digital tools is that we often overthink a solution. We possibly do this because we either over analyse the problem or underestimate the target market.

The best way around this is to do three things:

- leave your understanding at the door.

- empty yourself of anything you think you know.

- be ready to fill up on what they want to tell you.

When we are born, we have no templates through which to understand the world. We are wide-eyed and curious. We ask lots of questions and we look intently at the people around us and absorb the actions they take and decisions they make around us trying to understand the why, what, when, and how.

To be a successful UX researcher, you'll do great reverting back to that curiosity. Be mindful to go into an interview empty of knowledge, so you can fill up on what you're going to be told.
