“One genuine relationship is worth a fistful of business cards.”
We weren’t always business hackers. We worked office hours chasing money and titles consulting for big corporates. We come from the management consulting fraternity of helping corporate companies grow and be better. We got sucked into using traditional ways to grow their business. We got stuck in the corporate rat race and became aware of how un-human business had become. Stuck in overengineered business methodologies, corporate politics, operational red tape, hierarchical and ego driven decision making. And it nearly broke us! So we threw it all away and started over. We decided to create what we believe in. To feed our souls. And we have never looked back.
We decided we needed to be part of the change we weren’t seeing. We discovered that we weren’t alone in our dissatisfaction with the status quo of the working world. So we just got right into it. We asked ourselves early on if we were over-committing. But then we said. “Screw it!” Let’s just give it a shot and see where it ends up. We didn’t know what we were getting into. We didn’t know what challenges we would yet face but we just got started. And that’s probably the best thing we could have done. We realised: don’t overthink things, Don’t try and think through every hypothetical future problem or challenge that we’ll face. Let’s just get started. Let’s use that initial motivation and inspiration, that original spark to try something new.
Before we knew it we met with a number of people who shared our beliefs.
We became business hackers.
A craftsperson battles for perfection. Never willing to give in or walk away. So what’s our craft? We create solutions to business problems or areas of opportunity from the ground up. Using the means we feel comfortable with and used by pioneers before us. We help business owners find joy in their craft by cultivating meaningful business relationships and cultivating new ideas for the betterment of the business.
As a craftsperson in business hacking, we discover what drives the people that we call our business heroes. We learn about their craft and ideate on commercial relationships and ventures. We are all about value creation. And maybe even find some inspiration along the way.
We believe there’s a craftsperson in all of us. So join us on a quest. To uncover the skills and mindset that build a business society that is human. One that challenges the old ways. Lets make the change, one craftsperson at a time. There is a part of you in everything you do. Your legacy. A craftsperson’s legacy.
And our goal? To have fun, do exceptional work, build the best solutions in the business, experiment, pay attention to the details, treat people right, tell the truth, have a positive impact on the world around us, give back, and keep learning.
The DNA Manifesto
We will specialise. We will build communities not empires. We will focus on individuals not corporations. We will be authentic. We will foster relationships for mutual benefit. We will be selective. We will collaborate for the greater good. We will build expertise rapidly. We will have real and meaningful conversations. We will be human centric. We will be curious and always ask more. We will focus on listening over being heard. We will diagnose before we prescribe. We will transform learning into ideas and solutions. We will rethink what it means to sell. We will challenge the old. We will not change for change's sake but for betterment. We will iterate and not stop creating. We will be strategic, not tactical. We will be proactive not reactive. We will focus on value creation not profit making. We will not cheat the time it takes to build relationships. We will be transparent.
Dare and step up!
We love sharing our ideas on business, culture and design with the world.
